Mortchee’s in Wausau serves up Hmong, other Asian takeout food

WAUSAU – An eatery specializing in traditional Hmong dishes, hen skewers, egg rolls and other fast Asian foods is taking root in a after-iconic ice product stand on Wausau’s west side.

Mortchee’s Carryout & Catering opened for business in December at 118 S. 3rd Ave., in the tiny constructing that once was the website of the longstanding West Side Tasty Treat ice cream store. Mortchee’s is a household affair, owned and operated by Sa Sor Lee, her partner, Michy Vang, and their two sons, Mortchee Vang, a college student at Northcentral Complex School, and Leo Vang, a senior at D.C. Everest Senior Higher Faculty.

Sa Sor, who is also a corrections officer for Marathon County, claimed the notion was for Mortchee and Leo to acquire on far more obligation as the business enterprise grows more recognized. In the meantime, they all are performing at the eatery, with Sa Sor as manager, and Michy, who has a diploma in architectural structure, as the lead cook dinner.
